A campus-wide power outage is currently impacting various Boise State buildings, including the Recreation Center, Chaffee Hall and the Student Union Building.

There is no estimated time for the power to be restored, according to a BroncoAlert sent out to the campus community by the Department of Public Safety

The department asks those on campus to use caution in affected buildings and to avoid using elevators until the power is fully restored.

While the power outage at Chaffee Hall started less than an hour ago, the majority of students are already feeling the impacts the outage will have on the remainder of the day.

“Though at first we did take it pretty unseriously, we now realise just how grand it’s going to be not being able to use general appliances,” said Olivia Taylor, a freshman and Chaffee resident.

Students have expressed concerns in how the outage will be affecting the functionality of dorms all across campus.

Chloe Suydan, another freshman, expressed discontent with current conditions. “It’s been annoying since we can’t take a shower with hot water or working lights.”

Braden Turner, freshman resident at Chaffee Hall also illustrated frustration with the inability to monitor or charge electronic devices. “I can’t do homework in my room because it’s too dark and my phone’s about to die.”

No further information has been provided at this time.
