Idaho Stampede Managing Investor to Receive Idaho Distinguished Service Medal

Bill Ilett, managing investor for the Idaho Stampede, will receive the Idaho Distinguished Service Medal during half-time ceremonies at the game against Anaheim Friday, March 16.

Maj. Gen. Larry Lafrenz, Idaho National Guard commanding general, will present Ilett with the award for his work through the Idaho Stampede Community Foundation in support of Idaho service members and their families through Operation Opening Doors and Operation Idaho Cares.

Operation Opening Doors is a program that renovates the homes of soldiers who come home with life-changing injuries.

This program raised more than $34,000 to help Idaho veterans injured while serving in the Middle East.

The money is used to modify homes and help the service members adapt to their disabilities.

Operation Idaho Cares raised funds to help Idaho families who had loved ones serving in the Middle East to face day-to-day challenges with needed financial support.

The Idaho Distinguished Service Medal is the second-highest military award within the State of Idaho.
