Cold beer, cowboy hats and toe tapping tunes are the typical staples of a country concert. On the other hand, a fly, eye-catching ensemble and the urge to dance are the only qualifications to be a true-blooded rock concert-goer. Though the lingo of genres are different, the common conclusion of enjoying the art of music and having a good time are identical.

The 2 Worlds 2 Voices tour starring country legend Reba McEntire and original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson amazed locals at the Taco Bell Arena on Thursday night. In turn, exemplifying the manner in which eclectic styles and tastes of today can be seamlessly presented together.

The tour challenges the conception that only artists of the same genre should tour and perform together on the same stage. By combining McEntire's country roots with Clarkson's tangible emotion the show is a must see, extremely unique experience.

McEntire, 53, has recruited quite a following through her 32 years in the music business. Selling over 40 million records has placed her in what is deemed, country music loyalty. Along with whirlwind success in music, She also starred in the self -titled WB family sitcom, Reba, from 2001-2007, which encouraged the formation of an even greater fan base.

Clarkson, 26, recognizably from American Idol fame, provides a foundation of authentic talent for the structure that is the popular music culture of today. With the great success of hits such as "Breakaway" and "Since You've Been Gone", she has become a youthful force to recon with in the industry.

Comedian Melissa Peterman, a Reba cast member who embodied the sitcom's memorable "Barbra Jean" character, opened up the show and riled the hometown crowd.

"We're on a college campus, which I love. The minute we got here I started craving ramen and jell-o shots", Peterman said.

Clever, family-friendly jokes and McEntire impersonations continued through Peterman's half hour set. At the conclusion of which she invited an audience member she lovingly nicknamed "Big Mike" to meet her at the football field after the show. "You can't miss it, it's blue", Peterman said.
